About the Author

My name is Tim Holmes and I work as an architect in the New Media and Publishing space. Recent clients include John Wiley and Sons, AOL UK and Vodafone Global.

I was  responsible for the Service Platform architecture used to deliver Vodafone Live! – a mobile portal available in most european countries. I’ve done quite a bit of Java development, and got involved in bigger and bigger systems until one day I was told I was an architect. I also have quite a bit of background in relational databases, have been a VMS systems engineer and worked in various industries including Pharmaceuticals, Police, Defence, Banking and more latterly in telecommunications, having moved from Mobile into the world of the Broadband ISP and then into Publishing.

I live in the Village of Girton on the outskirts of Cambridge in England with my wife, teenage sons and my dog. I cycle to work on my Dahon, covering 12 miles a day. In our spare time we’ve been renovating a cottage in Brittany, I also frequently sail the Ionian in our part owned Yacht Sami, and also enjoy Skiing.
